As I closed my laptop after a VIP Day this weekend, my clientfriend said “Thanks for giving me permission to share my story.”
I used to think personal branding was simply a marketing function … something we strategically did to grow our audience.
But now that enough clients have cried happy tears with me, I’m realizing this process is deeply therapeutic.
By making a stand and saying, “this is who I am and what I believe in,” we get to break out of the box we’ve squeezed ourselves into so we can have a seat at the table. Clawing our way through the corporate ladder and navigating old boy’s networks takes its toll.
Claiming the time, space, and energy to rediscover who we truly are and make a commitment to consistently show up as ourselves feels revolutionary.
So of course, it also feels scary.
If it’s feeling scary to you today, remember these amazing benefits that come from building a brand:
✨ You get to create the brave space to talk about a specific struggle and attract a community equally passionate about it – building your own campfire.
✨You can practice being you and throw away that “professional” mask you no longer need to fit in. You’re best at being yourself, so just be you!
✨ You have permission to talk about your story and the wisdom you’ve picked up along the way … and eventually realize you never needed permission anyway.
