This text stopped me in my tracks. A mentor-mother-sister-friend (turned client) reached out as she completed her Pre-Work Questionnaire for our Personal Branding on LinkedIn VIP Day.
She had asked a few trusted colleagues how they perceive her and what makes her uniquely poised to do the work she does.
She’s not alone with her response. Most of my clients are pleasantly shocked at the super positive feedback. Almost none of them really saw (1) how much value they bring into their sphere of influence and (2) how BELOVED they are!
Why is this important?
Those who don’t know us well yet (potential clients, donors, strategic partners, and amplifiers) will relate to us in the way we relate to ourselves – through our content, through the stories we share about ourselves, through 1:1 interactions, and through our general vibe.
No doubt, it’s good to be humble. But if we don’t ALSO clearly articulate how we help others and stand in our proven expertise and credibility, our future audience won’t see any of that.
And that would be a shame, because they could miss out on your unique awesomeness and everything you bring to the table!
If you’re game, reach out to a trusted colleague (like a previous boss or awesome past client.) Ask them to share how they’d describe you to someone else, what makes you unique, and what you’re best at.
